Leping Study

Leping Study is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Leping Study is located in the Old Enclosure of Tangwei Village, Shipai Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. It was built during the Qing Dynasty by Li Leping, a villager. This two-story pavilion-style building faces south and sits north, with a total width of 15.97 meters and a depth of 8.97 meters, covering an area of approximately 143 square meters. The front has three doors, and the interior features exquisite murals, as well as numerous colorful paintings, wood carvings, and stone carvings. The second floor retains a wooden partition wall, with exquisitely carved doors and windows, and features a couplet that reads: “Gazing low at the lake, the mind feels open and free; looking far to the clouded mountains, the vision expands wide.” Li Leping was a descendant of the fourth branch of the Li family in Tangwei, and he owned the Lichang Machinery Factory in Guangzhou and a shipping company in Hong Kong. This study is elaborately decorated and holds significant historical and artistic value for the study of rural studies and educational conditions in the Lingnan region during the Qing Dynasty. It was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 2006.

Tangwei Village: Tangwei Village in Shipai Town, Dongguan City, is located in the eastern part of the city, covering an area of 1.57 square kilometers. The village has a well-connected road network, with three major roads—Taihe Middle Road, Shigang Avenue, and Li Heng Road—running through it, ensuring convenient transportation and a beautiful environment. The ancient village within Tangwei Village, known for its well-preserved historic architecture, ecological surroundings, and rich traditional folk culture, was announced by the State Council in May 2006 as part of the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
