The former site of the headquarters of the Third Battalion, Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The former site of the headquarters of the Third Battalion, Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces is located in Dawangling Village Group, Dalingshan Village, Dalingshan Town, Dongguan City. It is a traditional mud-brick house. In September 1940, the East River Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party held a military cadre meeting where it was decided to reorganize the anti-Japanese armed forces in the Dongjiang region into the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces, establish an anti-Japanese base in the Huizhou (Dongguan), eastern Guangdong (Dongguan), and Bao’an (Shenzhen) area, carry out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines, and set up the leadership center in Dongguan. In October of the same year, the Third Battalion of the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces opened up the Daling Mountain Anti-Japanese Base and established its battalion headquarters here. The leadership office of the Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces was also located here. The site was renovated in 2005. It faces southeast, is 10.70 meters wide, 11 meters long, and covers an area of approximately 137 square meters. The building has a gable-and-hip roof with purlins resting directly on the walls, and the walls were constructed using the local traditional “gold-wrapped-silver” masonry technique. This site holds significant value for the study of the history of the Guangdong people’s anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

As part of the Daling Mountain Anti-Japanese Base Sites, the headquarters ruins were designated in May 2006 by the State Council as part of the sixth group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. In April 2008, it was named a Dongguan Patriotic Education Base by the Dongguan Municipal Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee.

Dalingshan Village: Located southwest of Dalingshan Town, about 3 kilometers from the town center, Dalingshan Village covers a total area of 7 square kilometers. It administers four natural villages — Xiayouguling, Shangyouguling, Wengyao, and Dawangling — and seven villager groups, with a total population of 19,860, including 2,363 registered residents. In 2010, the village achieved a total industrial and agricultural output value of 1.69849 billion yuan, with village-level and group-level disposable income totaling 5.22 million yuan, and an average per capita income of 12,913 yuan.
