The Site of the Old Enclosure Wall of the Guangdong Navy Commander's Office is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Site of the Old Enclosure Wall of the Guangdong Navy Commander's Office is located on Niuweiji Mountain (also known as Danren Mountain) in Zhikou Community, Humen Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, to the north of the former site of Lin Zexu’s Opium Destruction Pits. It stretches along the mountain ridge of Danren Mountain from east to west, covering an area of approximately 1,400 square meters. As early as the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, military camps were established on Tiger Head Mountain (i.e., Big Tiger and Small Tiger) for defense and called “Xundi” (military outposts). In the 16th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1588), the camp was relocated to Wushan (on Weiyuan Island) and named “Hutoumen Mountain Front Fortified City.” It was later abandoned due to shallow waters that prevented ships from docking. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was moved to Sankoumen (i.e., Jiumen Fort), renamed “Hutoumen Mountain Rear Fortified City.” In the 19th year of the Kangxi era (1680), the Qing army relocated from Sankoumen (i.e., Jiumen Fort) to Shiqiling (i.e., Danren Mountain). Local residents from Dongguan donated over 7,400 taels of silver to construct the enclosure wall, which was 186 zhang long and built with rammed earth. In the 57th year of the Kangxi era (1718), the fortress was expanded and constructed with brick and stone. In the 15th year of the Jiaqing era (1810), the position of Guangdong Navy Commander was established, and the office was set up within the Humen Fortress, making it the highest command center for Guangdong's maritime defense. The remaining sections of the Guangdong Navy Commander's Office enclosure wall extend over 1,400 meters, standing 2.1 meters high and about 1 meter thick, with outward-facing zigzag firing holes every few meters. The Site of the Old Enclosure Wall of the Guangdong Navy Commander's Office serves as an important location for patriotic and national defense education, and also holds significant value for the study of Ming and Qing maritime defense relics. It was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1982.
