Aoge Pavilion

Aoge Pavilion is located at the northwest corner of Yu Hill in People's Park. Built in 1921, it faces southeast and measures 7.7 meters in width, 6.5 meters in depth, and 7.8 meters in height. It is a square pavilion with a tiled roof, featuring a rolled-brim roof, green glazed tiles for the roof ridge caps and water spouts. The front wall inside the pavilion is inlaid with two stone steles of the same size and material — the “Aoge Pavilion Inscription” and an “Announcement” stele. Both are carved in intaglio on bluestone, each measuring 1.32 meters in height and 0.49 meters in width. Aoge Pavilion was built to commemorate Huang Chunlin, the then magistrate of Dongguan County, for his contributions to the people, and holds certain historical value for the study of Dongguan’s history during the Republican era. In 2008, the park management restored the pavilion to its original appearance and added stone tables and benches inside for visitors to rest.
