Guangchanglong – Site of the Transportation Office of the Dongguan County Committee of the CPC

Guangchanglong – Site of the Transportation Office of the Dongguan County Committee of the CPC is located at the position of the first shop on the left at the junction of Zhenhua Road and Dehoulane 0- in Xiyu Community, Guancheng Subdistrict, Dongguan City.

In the autumn of 1927, the Dongguan County Committee of the CPC was established. It successively set up the county committee headquarters in secret at the ancestral hall of the Zhou family in Zhouwusha, Changping, and in Yongtai Village, Wanjiang, and used the tinware shop operated by Lai Chengji (a member of the county committee who became the County Party Secretary in March 1928), Guangchanglong, in Guancheng as the transportation office of the county committee.

On December 7, 1928, the Communist Youth League county committee headquarters located at Mushiju in the city was raided by the enemy, and clues led to the transportation office of the county committee, Guangchanglong. That afternoon, the head of the county security team and the head of the county police detective squad, along with a group of officers, sealed off Guangchanglong and arrested three people inside the shop: Ye Duohui, a standing committee member of the county committee, and Lai Jie and Wu Zhuo. A meeting sign-in book was also found in the shop. This was the sign-in record of underground party members from a meeting held five days earlier at Guangchanglong to prepare for an armed uprising. Ye Duohui was secretly executed. After the “Guangchanglong Incident,” many Communists were subsequently exposed and killed, the Dongguan Party organization suffered severe damage, and it was not until the autumn of 1936 that it was restored and began to develop again.

In 1931, when the narrow streets were demolished to build roads, Guangchanglong was torn down. The existing site has the front part now part of the road, while the rear section was rebuilt into a two-story arcade-style commercial building, which has been in business ever since.
