Lixin Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The Lixin Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located on the southern slope of Jinqijiling Mountain, north of Quanmianling Village in Lixin, Dongcheng District, Dongguan City. It was built in 1966. The monument houses the remains of 14 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War, including Cai Zhuo, Zhang Jian, and Yuan Sheng.

The monument covers an area of 150 square meters, and the memorial tower is 5.4 meters high. The base is a cube with sides of 2 meters, constructed from cement and red bricks. The front of the monument faces southeast, and the middle of the main body is inscribed vertically with seven bold characters: “Revolutionary Martyrs’ Monument.” The top of the base is engraved horizontally with four characters: “Immortal Glory.” The middle of the base originally featured painted inscriptions, but the text has now completely faded. The surrounding area includes a 140-square-meter cement platform, bordered by evergreen pine trees and bamboo.

Due to urban development needs and the deterioration of the original monument, the old structure was demolished at the end of 1997. In March 2000, the Lixin Village Committee rebuilt the Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument on the hilltop where Yangqikeng Village and Yangtianli Village meet. The new monument square covers an area of 1,224 square meters. The new monument is 4 meters long, 3.7 meters wide, and 10.5 meters high, with seven black characters vertically inscribed on the main body: “Revolutionary Martyrs’ Monument.”
