Site of the Former Headquarters of the Dongguan County Committee of the Communist Party of China

The site of the former headquarters of the Dongguan County Committee of the Communist Party of China is located in a single-story house at the home of Yuan Houchang in the southern part of Chalingfang, Wentang Community, Dongcheng District, Dongguan City, covering an area of about 60 square meters.

In June 1940, the Dongbao United County Committee of the Communist Party of China was dissolved. A new Dongguan County Committee was formed with Chen Mingyan, Huang Shukai, and Wang Shizhao as committee members. Chen Mingyan served as the County Committee Secretary, Huang Shukai as the Head of Organization, Wang Shizhao as the Head of Propaganda, Xie Yangguang as the Head of Armed Forces, and Wang He as the Head of Women’s Affairs. The County Committee headquarters was located at the home of Yuan Houchang in Wentang Village.

At that time, the work of the Dongguan County Committee mainly involved leading the people of Dongguan in carrying out anti-Japanese resistance behind enemy lines, organizing anti-Japanese armed forces and groups in the water town areas, and conducting activities in the rear areas. In 2016, the total collective income of both levels of government in Wentang Community reached 240 million yuan, including 16 million yuan from the neighborhood committee and 224 million yuan from the shareholding economic cooperatives.
