Former Residence of Li Benli

The former residence of Li Benli is located in Lizhoujiao Village, Hongmei Town, with GPS coordinates: 22°59'56.4"N, 113°36'27.1"E, and an elevation of 13 meters.

The former residence of Li Benli was originally a straight-line earthen-brick tile house facing west, surrounded by residential buildings, with a small alley to the right and cross alleys at the front and back. It was demolished in 1982 due to severe deterioration.

Li Benli (1905–1933) was a native of Lizhoujiao, Hongmei, Dongguan. In his youth, he moved with his father to Mingjing Lane in Guancheng (now the sixth lane of West Zheng Road, Guancheng). In 1923, after graduating from the First Higher Primary School of Dongguan County, he entered Dongguan Middle School. During his time at the school, influenced by progressive ideas, he joined the Dongguan Special Branch of the Socialist Youth League at the end of 1924 and later became a member of the Communist Party of China. With the help of Mo Cuihua, he established an affiliated organization of the Youth League — the “New Students’ Society.”

Lizhoujiao Village is located in the southwest of Dongguan City, in the middle section of the waterway from Liaoxia to Langzhou along the lower reaches of the Dong River, ten kilometers from the Pearl River (Shatian exit).
