In the summer of 1944, he served as the district head of the New Fifth District of Dongguan County under the Dongbao Administrative Guidance Office of the democratic government. In April of the following year, he became the Chairman of the Dong (guan) Bao (an) Peasants’ Association.
In early 1946, while receiving medical treatment in Hong Kong, he organized the Huizhongbao People’s Anti-Civil War Conference, denouncing the crimes of the Kuomintang reactionaries for launching the civil war, and did significant work to help Hong Kong youth return to the mainland to join the liberation cause.
