The Site of the Ambush Battle at Fuzhushan is located on Penling in Fuzhushan Village, Liaobu Town. GPS coordinates: 23°00'25.2"N, 113°52'08.6"E, elevation 45 meters.

In late April 1945, the Sanlong Battalion and Mengbao Battalion of the First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column withdrew from the water towns of Dongguan. Under the leadership of Detachment Commander Huang Bu and Political Commissar Chen Daming, they continued their activities along the Guanzhang Road, making Liaobu an active guerrilla zone in the later stages of the Anti-Japanese War. The stretch of the Guanzhang Road from Huangjiang to Zhushan was almost entirely controlled by the Sanlong Battalion, dealing a heavy blow to enemy military transport and communications. To ensure the smooth operation of the Guanzhang Road, the Japanese army launched multiple “mopping-up” operations in Dalang and Liaobu, all of which were met with fierce counterattacks from the anti-Japanese guerrillas. On May 19, over 600 puppet troops from Hengkeng and Liangtang attacked Chenjiapu and Liangping along two routes. The Sanlong Battalion and Mengbao Battalion deployed five companies and one militia reserve unit, totaling more than 280 personnel, to intercept the enemy advancing from Liangping. Around 8–9 a.m., when one group of puppet troops entered the ambush zone set by the Sanlong Battalion, they were ambushed and retreated toward Xinwei in Fuzhushan. Soon after, the enemy regrouped and pressed forward again. To lure them deeper, the Sanlong Battalion withdrew and took cover behind the Shenxian Temple behind Chenjiapu Village. The enemy pursued relentlessly. Seeing the right moment, the battalion’s political commissar He Qing ordered all companies and the pre-positioned militia to launch a full-scale counterattack. Instantly, red flags waved atop the hills, gunfire erupted, and the puppet troops were thrown into panic, fleeing toward Jundang Bridge. A local pork vendor from Chenjiapu grabbed two meat cleavers and joined the battle. Charging to the back of the village, he spotted several stubborn puppet troops and attempted to seize their machine gun, but was killed heroically. In this battle, 16 enemies were killed, 20 wounded, and 3 captured, with 7 guns seized. Following this defeat, one entire puppet battalion withdrew from Liangtang.
