The Yin Ancestral Hall – Site of the Dashaxiang Peasant Association is a cultural heritage site protected by Dongguan City.

The Yin Ancestral Hall – Site of the Dashaxiang Peasant Association is located at Jiwei, Dashaxiang Village, Dalingshan Town. GPS coordinates: 22°55'50.9"N, 113°50'07.1"E, elevation 22 meters.

The entire ancestral hall faces southwest from the northeast, featuring a traditional three-bay, three-courtyard layout, with a depth of 29.86 meters, width of 11.84 meters, and height of 7 meters. It has corridors on both sides, enclosing a central courtyard. The structure is made of brick and wood, with a flush gable roof. The first bay features a bogu-style ridge, while the second bay has a dragon boat-style ridge. The roof truss combines the raised-beam and through-tenon styles.

In the autumn of 1925, Peng Pai, a leader of the Guangdong Peasant Movement, conducted activities here to rally support for the movement. Later, under the initiative of the Dongguan branch of the Chinese Communist Party, the Dashaxiang Peasant Association and Peasant Self-Defense Army were established, using the Yin Ancestral Hall as their headquarters to carry out peasant movement activities. On December 17, 1927, Cai Ruping and other leaders of the Dongguan County Committee of the CCP held an emergency meeting here to plan responses and support for the Guangzhou Uprising.

From early 1938 to 1941, Zhang Ying, an underground member of the CCP, was sent by the Dongguan County Party organization to Dashaxiang to establish an anti-Japanese guerrilla base. Using the Yin Ancestral Hall as a stronghold, he set up a Party branch, recruited three members — Kuang Yingtao, Yin Canlin, and Kuang Chishou — and organized the Dashaxiang Anti-Japanese Militia under the guise of fighting bandits to protect the hometown. Over 100 anti-Japanese self-defense members were trained, forming an important armed force in the people’s resistance against Japan in the Dalingshan Mountain area.

The Yin Ancestral Hall was designated as a cultural heritage site protected by Dongguan City on January 8, 2004. It underwent renovation in 2009, largely preserving its original appearance.

Dashaxiang Village: I. Geographic Location

Dashaxiang Village is located in the northwest of Dalingshan Town, covering an area of 3.6 square kilometers. It consists of three natural villages: Dashaxiang, Huangwu, and Xiahu Mountain, bordering Jinjv Village, Jichi Ling Village, and Taigongling Village. It lies close to Tongsha Reservoir, adjacent to the town center, Julong Timber Market, Julong Farmers Market, and Xinli International Agricultural Wholesale Market.
