Former Site of the Second District Government Office

The former site of the Second District Government Office is located in Dashiban Village, Lianping, Dalingshan Town, Dongguan City. Originally a three-story brick-and-wood watchtower, it had a gable-and-hip tiled house on the north side, measuring 9.5 meters in length and 5 meters in width, with a total area of approximately 47 square meters. It was built in 1939 by Huang Jihua, a villager of the village, to guard against bandits.

With the consolidation and development of the Dalingshan Anti-Japanese Base Area, in early April 1941, the first anti-Japanese democratic government in Dongguan County — the Lianping Township Democratic Government — was established. The township government was housed in this watchtower, with Li Jinteng as the township head and Liu Guiping as the deputy. On August 13, 1944, the Dongguan New Second District Government of the Dongbao Administrative Guidance Office was established, with its offices also located in this watchtower. Zhang Ying served as the district head, overseeing Lianping Township, Dasha Township, Jingjuling Township, Zhangjia Village Township, and Huangcun Township. After its establishment, the New Second District Government actively developed production, collected public grain, supported the troops, mobilized enlistment, and promoted the anti-Japanese cause.

In 1958, two stories of the watchtower were demolished, and the northern tiled house was converted into a single-story concrete structure with brick mixed construction in 1990.
