Former Residence of Luo Shao Yan

The former residence of Luo Shao Yan is located 100 meters to the right of the east gate in the ancient village of Jinglian, Qiaotou Town, Dongguan City. The site covers an area of 208 square meters, with a built-up area of 133 square meters. It features bluestone walls and consists of a main house and side rooms, totaling three rooms. The door lintel is adorned with floral and plant-shaped gray plaster carvings, and the eaves boards are intricately carved with beautiful patterns. The main house is well-preserved, while the side rooms have been renovated.

Luo Shao Yan, originally named Luo Huizu, was born on June 22, 1897, into a poor farming family in Jingbei Village, Dongguan County, Guangdong Province. In December 1925, he joined the Communist Party of China. Following the Party’s instructions, he took advantage of his position as a Chinese language teacher at Wuzhou Pui Ching Middle School to actively promote the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal revolutionary agenda. He mobilized and organized students to participate in patriotic and anti-imperialist struggles, exerting significant influence on the student revolutionary movement in Wuzhou.
