Guangyuan An – Former Training Base of the Eastern Route Cadres is a Dongguan Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a patriotic education base.

Guangyuan An – Former Training Base of the Eastern Route Cadres is located in Tieshang Village, Qingxi Town, with GPS coordinates: 22°51'36.0" N, 114°12'37.8" E, and an elevation of 87 meters.

The site was originally a traditional Buddhist temple building in the Lingnan architectural style, named Guangyuan An, and was first built during the Ming Dynasty. The original building has now completely collapsed, leaving only remnants of walls. In October 1997, villagers raised funds to restore part of “Guangyuan An” on the original site. It has a three-room, two-courtyard, two-corridor layout in a courtyard style, facing south with brick walls coated inside and out with lime plaster. The structure spans a total width of 11.94 meters and a depth of 16.63 meters, featuring a flush-gable roof covered with green glazed tiles. Original wall remnants and fencing from the old structure are preserved on both sides and in front of the building.

In November 1944, the CPC Eastern Route County Committee was established, and shortly after, training classes for establishing mountainous region governments and for party member cadres were held in Tieshang, Qingxi. After graduation, the trainees formed two work teams, known as the Iron Flow Work Team and the Flood Flow Work Team. These teams were dispatched to Qingtang District and Changping District to develop party organizations, militia groups, and peasant associations, establish democratic governments, mobilize the public to join the military, implement rent and interest reductions, and promote production.

In the 1950s, the site was repurposed as Tieshang Primary School. In the mid-1970s, wooden and brick components of the site’s buildings were dismantled to construct new school buildings for Tieshang Primary School. In the late 1990s, the school was relocated, and local villagers raised funds to build the Guangyuan An Buddhist hall on the original site as a place for public worship. By 2005, most of the remaining structures had collapsed, leaving only parts of the rammed-earth walls.

The Former Training Base of the Eastern Route Cadres was designated as a Dongguan Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the Dongguan Municipal People’s Government in August 1982, and a commemorative plaque was erected in the square in front of the site. In April 2008, it was named a Dongguan Municipal Patriotic Education Base by the Dongguan Municipal Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee.
