The site of the establishment of the Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit is located on Hantou Ridge to the north of Qingxi Town, surrounded by mountains. GPS coordinates: 22°51'58.4" N, 114°10'35.3" E, at an elevation of 58 meters.

In late December 1938, the headquarters of the Dongbao United County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party moved from Baihuadong in Guanlan (now part of Bao’an District, Shenzhen) to the Zeng Ancestral Hall in Kuchaodong Village, Qingxi. On New Year’s Day 1939, the Dongbao United County Committee directed the Dongguan Anti-Japanese Model Militia, the First Battalion of the Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit, and anti-Japanese forces mobilized by local party branches across various districts—totaling about 200 personnel—to gather at Kuchaodong in Qingxi County, Dongguan, for training. From these, 120 were selected to form the Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit. Wang Zuoyao was appointed as commander, and He Yucheng as political instructor.

After training, the Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit advanced into areas along the Dong River, including Qiaotou, Shipai, Dongkeng, and Chashan, to carry out anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare.

In April 1939, to facilitate the survival and development of the guerrilla unit, it obtained a legal designation under the National Revolutionary Army. The Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit was reorganized as the Second Guerrilla Battalion directly under the Fourth Guerrilla Column of the Fourth War Zone. Wang Zuoyao remained as commander and He Yucheng as political instructor. This unit became one of the predecessors of the later-established Guangdong People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Force.

The site of the establishment of the Dongbao-Huibian People’s Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit consists of two adjacent earthen-brick tile-roofed houses facing south, which are now in ruins.

Among the national top 1,000 towns, it ranks within the top 50.
