Tangxia Revolutionary Martyrs Monument

The Tangxia Revolutionary Martyrs Monument is located at the summit of Guanguang Park in Tangxia Town. GPS coordinates: 22°48'47.7" N, 114°05'20.7" E, elevation 91 meters.

In October 1996, the Tangxia Town Party Committee and the Town Government constructed the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument on the hilltop of Guanguang Park in Tangxia Town. It was renovated in March 2010. The monument covers an area of 200 square meters. The front of the base bears an inscription written by the Tangxia Town People’s Government, while the back is engraved with the names of 52 revolutionary martyrs. The main body of the monument is a rectangular structure, 10 meters high, entirely built from marble. Both the front and back of the main structure are inscribed vertically with eight bold characters: “Revolutionary Martyrs Live Forever.” In front of the monument is a small viewing stand surrounded by a railing, covering an area of about 20 square meters and standing approximately 1.2 meters high. The floor is paved with marble slabs, and pine and cypress trees are planted around.

Among the 52 revolutionary martyrs from Tangxia who sacrificed their lives during the New Democratic Revolution and the socialist construction period were Huang Wanshun, Secretary of the Qingtang District Committee of the Communist Party of China; Huang Xiliang, Commander of the 4th Battalion of the 2nd Detachment of the Dongjiang Column; and Zhao Dusheng, County Magistrate of Dongguan County People’s Government.

In April 2008, the Tangxia Revolutionary Martyrs Monument was designated as a Dongguan Patriotic Education Base by the Dongguan Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee.

Tangxia Town: Located in the southeastern part of Dongguan City, Tangxia Town borders Qingxi Town to the east, Huangjiang Town to the west, Zhangmutou Town to the north, and Fenggang Town and Guanlan Subdistrict of Shenzhen to the south.
