Dashamen Gate —— Site of the Headquarters of the Third Regiment, First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column is a cultural relic protection unit of Dongguan City.

Dashamen Gate —— Site of the Headquarters of the Third Regiment, First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column is located on the west side of Xinwei in Dashamen Village, Dalingshan Town. GPS coordinates: 22°55'55.4" N, 113°50'00.8" E, elevation 21 meters.

The site was originally built during the Qing Dynasty, facing southwest and oriented from the northeast, with a rectangular layout. It is 4.70 meters long, 4.21 meters wide, and 5.2 meters high. It is a single-unit structure made of brick, wood, and stone, with walls constructed from blue bricks. The main door frame and the plinth are built from red sandstone, and the door lintel features a red sandstone plaque. Above the door, the wall is adorned with colorful murals, and the gable ends are decorated with polychrome lime plaster sculptures.

In February 1948, following instructions from the Hong Kong Branch of the CPC Central Committee, the people's armed forces in the southern region of the Dong River were reorganized into the Jiangnan Detachment of the Guangdong People's Liberation Army, upgrading battalions under the Huidong-Bao'an-Huizhou Rural Defense Corps into regiments. The Third Battalion was reorganized as the Third Regiment of the Jiangnan Detachment, with Zhang Jun as regimental commander and Huang Hua as political commissar. It consisted of two battalions from Dongguan and Bao'an. After its establishment, the Third Regiment of the Jiangnan Detachment fought and won several battles, including those at Meitang and Pingshui Shuikou. On May 16, 1948, after achieving victory in the ambush at Pingshui Shuikou, leaders of the Third Regiment — Huang Hua, Lin Wenhǔ, and He Tang — led the Jinzhong Team and the Steel Team to advance into Dalingshan. They were stationed at the home of Huang Renkuan (an old Party member who joined in 1938) in Huanghuan Village, Dalingshan, and frequently carried out revolutionary activities in Huanghuan and Dashamen. On January 17, 1949, the Jiangnan Detachment was reorganized into the First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column, East River Column of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Region, with the Third Regiment becoming the Third Regiment of the First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column (abbreviated as Dongyi San Tuan). Its headquarters was stationed at Dashamen Gate. During its time in Dashamen, Dongyi San Tuan emphasized revolutionary propaganda, leaving behind slogans in the surrounding areas. To this day, the slogan “Purge the Informants” remains preserved on the eastern wall of Dashamen Gate, near Dashamen Market. The slogan, written in traditional Chinese characters measuring 45 cm per square, was inscribed horizontally from right to left using limewater. The bottom left corner bears the signature “Yi Zhi San Tuan.” This revolutionary slogan calls for the elimination of spies.

The site is relatively well-preserved, though the five characters of the slogan “Purge the Informants” have become blurred. In January 2004, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Dongguan City by the Dongguan Municipal People’s Government.

Dashamen Village: I. Geographic Location

Dashamen Village is located in the northwest of Dalingshan Town, covering an area of 3.6 square kilometers. It consists of three natural villages: Dashamen Village, Huangwu Village, and Xiahu Mountain Village. It borders Jinju Village, Jichi Ling Village, and Taigongling Village, lies close to Tongsha Reservoir, and is adjacent to the town center, Jilong Timber Market, Jilong Farmers Market, and Xinli International Agricultural Wholesale Market.
