Dongguan Coin Museum

The Dongguan Coin Museum is a finance-themed museum dedicated to promoting monetary culture and popularizing financial knowledge. It was established in 2002 with investment from Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank (formerly Dongguan Rural Credit Cooperative), and its new building opened to the public in 2012. The museum currently has a total construction area of 3,000 square meters, with an exhibition area of 2,400 square meters, a collection of approximately 12,000 items (sets), and over 3,000 items (sets) of coins and bank history artifacts on display. Since its establishment, the Dongguan Coin Museum has been open to the public free of charge. It serves as a Dongguan Patriotic Education Base and a Social Science Popularization Base, and is also the Deputy Director Unit of the Non-State-Owned Museums Committee of the Chinese Museums Association, a Provincial Council Member of the China Numismatic Society, the Vice President Unit of the Guangdong Numismatic Society, and a member of the Banks and Museums Committee of the Bank of China. It has been awarded the title of "Top Ten Private Collections Museums in Guangdong Province" by the Guangdong Provincial Government.

The museum is located on the west side of the Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank Building at No. 2 Hongfu East Road, Dongguan, and includes the Chinese and Foreign Coin Culture Exhibition Hall, the Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank History Exhibition Hall, and a temporary exhibition space.

Museum Collection

The Chinese and Foreign Coin Culture Exhibition Hall has an exhibition area of 1,800 square meters and is divided into four sections: “History,” “Circulation,” “Craftsmanship,” and “Research.” It displays currency artifacts from various historical periods in China since the late primitive society, as well as ancient and modern coins from different regions around the world.

The Dongguan Rural Commercial Bank History Exhibition Hall has an exhibition area of 600 square meters and displays nearly 200 financial tools and ticket artifacts, vividly showcasing the development of rural finance in Dongguan since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Dongguan Coin Museum houses a collection of approximately 12,000 items (sets), which are categorized, preserved, and managed.
