Starting from downtown Shaoguan, take Gongye Road westward onto Rushao Road, heading in the direction of Muxi Industrial Park (enter from across the gas station). Within the city, you can also take bus No. 19 to Muxi Reservoir Station and walk in from there.

Stroll along the small path by the reservoir, where the sides are full of idyllic pastoral scenery. The winding path is quiet and serene, with bright wildflowers and lush greenery dotting the landscape. Before long, the view suddenly opens up to reveal a tall, newly renovated reservoir dam. The leisure area around the reservoir is full of greenery. A new lakeside road has been built — if you have the time, you can drive around the lake yourself or enjoy a lakeside tour with a couple of friends, exploring the different scenery on the other side of the reservoir.

According to regulations, swimming in the reservoir is not allowed. However, to meet visitors’ needs, the reservoir management has designated a safe swimming area by the water’s edge, where swimming enthusiasts can take a refreshing dip.

In the distance, you’ll see fishermen’s fish rafts. When visiting the reservoir, you simply must try the famous reservoir fish feast. The Fish Village Restaurant by the reservoir offers delicious food at reasonable prices, making it a great choice.

For those who enjoy barbecuing, you can also rent a barbecue grill and enjoy a carefree day grilling. Barbecue grills are available for rent in the Fish Village by the reservoir — 20 yuan per grill. You can bring your own ingredients or ask the Fish Village to prepare them for you.
