The Shaoguan Science and Technology Museum serves as a science education base.

The Shaoguan Science and Technology Museum is located at 6 kilometers along Shaonan Avenue in Shaoguan City, covering a land area of 3,000 square meters with a total construction area of 8,427.6 square meters. This includes 5,050 square meters for the main museum building and 2,477.6 square meters for the auxiliary office building. The museum officially opened to the public free of charge on December 19, 2004, and is open from Wednesdays to Sundays as well as on holidays. It houses five departments: Office, Development Department, Exhibition Department, Publicity and Education Department, and Engineering Department, with a total of 25 professionals.

Current exhibition areas include: the 3D Film Experience Hall, Fun Mechanical Transmission Exhibition, 3D Magic Stereoscopic Painting Exhibition, Naked-Eye 3D Sci-Fi World, Science Principles Exploration Center, Animation Design Workshop, Shaoguan Fire Safety Education Hall, and China Puzzle Toys Exhibition Hall.

Since its opening, the museum has consistently adhered to the service philosophy of “keeping pace with the forefront of science, staying close to real life, and serving a well-off society.” It actively fulfills the role of a science education venue, providing public science outreach through free educational exhibitions, organizing various types of science and technology training, academic lectures, presentations, as well as science experiments and competitions aimed at youth and the general public. It has become a second classroom for students to learn about science. In addition, the museum actively brings science knowledge to schools, communities, and rural areas. Through activities such as Science Education Day Trips, science-themed performances, exhibition boards, lectures, distribution of informational brochures, and expert consultations, it delivers scientific knowledge to the general public and has achieved positive social impact.

The Shaoguan Science and Technology Museum is an important public facility in Shaoguan City for implementing the strategy of revitalizing the city through science and education, popularizing scientific knowledge, promoting the spirit of science, disseminating scientific ideas and methods, and improving the overall scientific literacy of the population. It serves as the main base for science education for the public, especially young people, and as an important window for the city’s spiritual civilization development. It has been recognized as a “National Science Education Base,” “National Fire Science Education Base,” “Guangdong Provincial Youth Science and Technology Education Base,” “Guangdong Provincial Science Education Base,” a “Shaoguan Civilized Demonstration Window Unit,” a “Shaoguan Women’s Civilization Post,” an “Advanced Unit” by the Guangdong Research Association, and an “Outstanding Organizing Unit” for National Science and Technology Day.
