Former Site of the Command Headquarters of the Seventh War Zone during the War of Resistance Against Japan

The Former Site of the Command Headquarters of the Seventh War Zone during the War of Resistance Against Japan is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Seventh War Zone during the War of Resistance Against Japan was established for the second time in the late stage of the war, around 1944. The jurisdiction of the Seventh War Zone covered Guangdong Province, and in the surrender plan formulated on September 13, 1945, it was designated as one of the combat zones for accepting the disarmament of Japanese forces in the Guangdong region (including Hong Kong).

When the Seventh War Zone was first established, Yu Hanmou, the highest-ranking official in Guangdong Province at the time, took control of northern Guangdong and commanded two battles in the region, inflicting heavy blows on the invading Japanese forces. The headquarters of the Seventh War Zone at that time was located on the hillside behind the Oil Pump and Nozzle Factory in Shiliting. It consisted of a command center, a villa, barracks, and an auditorium. The command center was situated next to the factory’s kindergarten, and its ruins still remain today. However, the barracks and auditorium located halfway up the hill were leveled during the construction of factory dormitories in the 1960s and no longer exist. The villa is located on the hillside behind the factory dormitories, consisting of two brick-and-tile buildings facing south. The villa features a Western-style veranda and contains three rooms, each separated by connecting corridors. Next to the villa are six row houses that served as guard duty barracks. It is understood that this was where Yu Hanmou rested and where temporary military meetings were held.

In 2015, it was designated as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit of Guangdong Province by the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
