Nanshan Gen Site

The Nanshan Gen Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Nanshan Gen Site, located in Nanshan Gen Village, Cunjingou Township, Ningcheng County, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is a cultural site from the Zhou Dynasty, belonging to the Upper Xiajiadian culture. The site was discovered in 1958 when a team from the Cultural Relics Work Team of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region investigated the unearthing of a batch of bronze artifacts. Excavated items include bronze short swords with nude male and female figures, fox-tail-shaped ornaments, bell-shaped objects, hunting-patterned bronze rings, bronze knives, pottery basins, tripod cauldrons, bowls, and red pottery jars. Among them, the bronze short sword with nude male and female figures is the first of its kind ever discovered, and to date, this is the only known example. Its rarity speaks for itself and also indicates that the user of this sword held a special status. In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
