Introduction

The Greco-Roman Museum primarily houses artifacts from the Greco-Roman period discovered in the Alexandria area, with a collection of approximately 40,000 items dating from the 3rd century BC to the 7th century AD. This was a significant historical period when Greco-Roman and Egyptian civilizations intermingled. The museum complements the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, together presenting a complete history of Egypt. The Greco-Roman Museum itself is a building designed in the style of a Greek temple, with spacious exhibition halls surrounding a tree-lined garden. Sculptures from the same period are also displayed in the garden, immersing visitors in an ancient cultural atmosphere.
