The world's first underwater museum to be built in Egypt

Egypt plans to construct the world’s first “underwater museum” in its port city of Alexandria, allowing visitors to enter the water and view ancient Egyptian relics submerged in the Mediterranean Sea, in hopes of boosting tourism.

This underwater museum consists of both above-water and underwater sections. The above-water part will display restored relics, while the underwater section will comprise four buildings modeled after Nile sailboats, extending 7 meters deep into the water and interconnected in the middle to form a circular exhibition platform with a diameter of 80 meters. Up to 2,500 ancient relics submerged in the water will be exhibited. In addition to walking through underwater passages to view the relics firsthand, visitors can also choose to tour the sunken ancient city by glass-bottom submarine or scuba diving.
