Street installations often bring a unique vibe to a city and give passersby a reason to slow down and appreciate their surroundings. In Jerusalem’s Plaza, a massive bright red flower has appeared. Usually, it looks lazily drooped as if resting, but the moment pedestrians or trams pass by, the flower suddenly blooms — it’s truly fascinating!

The massive red flower is located in Vallero Square in central Jerusalem. It was designed by architecture firm HQ Architects as part of a public art installation aimed at improving urban space. The 9-meter-tall vivid red flower stands out prominently in the city square. In fact, this giant flower is also a decorative streetlight. It blooms or remains closed based on air sensors. Electricity from underground travels up through its stems, and when someone stands beneath it or a tram passes by, fresh air is pumped into the calyx, causing the flower to bloom.
