Steakhouse has long been a favorite dining spot for Taiwanese people to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. To tap into the steak market, no fewer than three new steakhouses opened in October alone. These include a new steakhouse added by Shin Wong Hotel, Just Grill – Crystal Hotels’ first ever off-site steakhouse, and now even the retail sector is bringing in Alexander's Steakhouse from the U.S., which has previously earned a Michelin one-star rating.

Alexander's Steakhouse USA
American steakhouse Alexander’s Steakhouse, which has been awarded one Michelin star, has officially entered the Taiwan market. Its first branch in Taiwan — and the first in Asia — is expected to commence operations on October 16. To ensure the same quality as in the U.S., Executive Chef Marc from San Francisco has come to assist, along with a resident team from the U.S., including Taipei Executive Chef James, Sous Chef Joseph, Pastry Chef Harmony Lu, and Front of House Manager Robert. Set menu prices range from NT$2,800 to NT$8,800.
Alexander’s Steakhouse has four branches in the U.S., sourcing beef from American Angus cattle and Australian Wagyu. The restaurant also features an in-house dry-aging room that offers 28-day dry-aged steaks — as soon as you enter the Taipei branch, you’ll see the aging room. Among the four Alexander’s locations, the flagship store in Cupertino, in the San Francisco Bay Area, was awarded a Michelin one-star rating in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Just Grill by Crystal Hotels (Off-site)
The first off-site steakhouse of the Regent Taipei hotel group, Just Grill, officially opened on October 16. To carve out a place in the highly competitive Xinyi dining district, it not only designed a salad bar targeting female diners but also introduced shareable dishes like gourmet tasting plates, tomahawk steaks, and bone-in short ribs meant for 2–3 people to share — with the cheapest option starting at just NT$880 (weekday lunch set).
Meat options at Just Grill include U.S. Prime beef, American Black Angus, Australian Tajima Wagyu, New Zealand lamb chops, Boston lobster, and fresh catch seafood... The selection of beef cuts ranges from ribeye, tenderloin, short rib, to tomahawk and bone-in rib steak, with cooking methods spanning from simple charcoal grilling and oven roasting to French-style sous-vide.
