Mosque of Moses Abul Abbas

The Mosque of Moses Abul Abbas is the largest and most beautiful mosque in Alexandria, originally built in 1775. Moses Abul Abbas was an Islamic scholar born in Spain during the era of the Arab Empire. He later came to Alexandria and constructed this mosque. The mosque was rebuilt in 1943, incorporating Andalusian Islamic architectural styles, featuring four domes and a tall minaret. Inside, the mosque has a colonnade supported by eight granite columns. The Mosque of Moses Abul Abbas (as well as other mosques in Alexandria) allows visitors, but certain rules must be observed: dress modestly, remove your shoes at the entrance; women should cover their heads with a scarf and are not allowed to enter the main hall; although there is no admission fee, visitors are encouraged to make an appropriate donation.
