Sadat Museum

The Sadat Museum is located in Alexandria, near the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and opened in 2009. It is a cultural museum established to commemorate Egyptian President and statesman Anwar Al Sadat.

Sadat was a beloved president of Egypt who, together with Syria, launched the Fourth Arab-Israeli War and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Tragically, he was assassinated during a military parade in Cairo celebrating the eighth anniversary of the victory in the Yom Kippur War. The Sadat Museum has now become a must-visit destination for tourists in Egypt, showcasing items related to Sadat, including his desk, radio, sword, the suit he wore upon returning home in glory, military uniform, pipe, and the uniform he was wearing when assassinated. Among the many exhibits, the most distinctive are a large number of decorations, medals, necklaces, and many rare books that can also be found in the museum — all of which were gifts from different countries to Sadat.

Also on display are the cane and Arabian sword gifted to him by the U.S. Gulf States. Many items related to Sadat have been donated, including short stories he once wrote, as well as some audio and video recordings.
