National Gallery of Zimbabwe

The National Gallery of Zimbabwe is located in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, and is dedicated to showcasing and preserving the country’s contemporary art and visual cultural heritage. The original "National Gallery of Rhodesia" was designed and directed by Frank McEwen (Frank McEwen), and the focus on Shona stone sculpture can be attributed to a Briton. The gallery officially opened on July 16, 1957, with the attendance of Queen Elizabeth and her mother. Queen Elizabeth II attended the Sixth Zimbabwe Heritage Exhibition in October 1991.

The National Gallery of Zimbabwe celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007. The current Managing Director is Doreen Sibanda, and the Director is Raphael Chikukwa. Dominic Benhura, a renowned Zimbabwean sculptor, is a member of its board. The National Gallery in Bulawayo and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Mutare are both branches of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
