On the night of August 1st, the Empire State Building in New York was lit up with a dazzling light show. The three-hour spectacle featured endangered animals as its theme, projecting images of 160 species from around the world that are facing extinction, including Cecil the lion, who was killed by an American dentist in Zimbabwe. The display aims to raise awareness and inspire conservation efforts for wildlife through these powerful visuals.

This three-hour-long light show was designed and initiated by Louie Psihoyos, director of the Oscar-winning documentary “The Cove.” Images of animals on the brink of extinction were projected onto the 106-meter-high facade of the Empire State Building in vivid and realistic colors. In addition to static images, dynamic footage was also displayed, bringing the animals to life against the New York skyline. Aside from allowing city dwellers to admire their beauty, the show also aimed to highlight the urgent message that these magnificent creatures are disappearing.
