Mount Nyangani

Mount Nyangani is the highest mountain in Zimbabwe, standing at 2,592 meters above sea level. It is located within Inyanga National Park, approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Harare. The summit area consists of a steep peak covering an area of about 40 meters in diameter, while the rest of the summit features rolling hills and a plateau of around 8 square kilometers, with steep drops along its eastern and western edges. The vegetation on the mountain mainly includes evergreen-covered wilderness to the west of the summit and grassland in the eastern half. The area receives up to 2,200 mm of rainfall annually, with the winter months from May to August being particularly dry. Snowfall is rare due to the mountain’s location in a tropical region and its relatively low elevation; the last recorded snowfall occurred in August 1935. Hikers with average fitness can reach the summit in just 1 to 3 hours.
