Biyumu Mountain

Biyumu Mountain is situated at the border between Zimbabwe and Mozambique, about 25 kilometers south of Mutare, and rises to an elevation of 1,911 meters. It is mainly made up of granite and, along with Mount Chimanimani and Mount Inyangani, constitutes the eastern highlands at the Zimbabwe-Mozambique border. It is commonly known as the "Mist Mountain" due to the enchanting fog that frequently envelops the mountain in the morning and gradually dissipates by noon.

Although most of Biyumu Mountain lies within Zimbabwe, it also extends into northeastern Mozambique. The majestic green mountains are surrounded by countryside hotels, casinos, golf courses, botanical gardens, and local coffee plantations. For hiking enthusiasts, it is also an excellent destination. The lower slopes are often shrouded in light mist, and the mountain is home to a variety of alpine flora, with Protea trees found at higher altitudes. The section of Biyumu Mountain that extends into Mozambique features steep hiking trails, and from its summit, one can overlook the Manica Province and the surrounding plains.
