Shini Zhao Desert Artificial Lake

The Shini Zhao Desert Artificial Lake Tourist Scenic Area in Dalad Banner, Ordos, is situated in Caoyuan Village, Shulinzhao Township, about 7 kilometers from Shulinzhao Town, the seat of the Dalad Banner government. It borders the northern edge of Erzihao Township to the south, lies within a hilly gully region, and is 4 kilometers from the Kubuqi Desert Tourist Resort. To the north, it connects with Shulinzhao Town, and is 20 kilometers from the Tomb of Wang Zhaojun tourist site and 30 kilometers from the Engbei tourist attraction – the largest desert environmental management demonstration area in western China. To the west, it is 3 kilometers from National Highway 210 (a first-class highway) and 3 kilometers from the Dalate Power Plant, the largest thermal power plant in Asia.

The Shini Zhao Desert Artificial Lake Tourist Scenic Area in Dalad Banner covers an area of 54,000 mu and features three distinct sightseeing zones. The first is located in the middle and upper reaches of Haoging River in the southeast of the Desert Water Park Tourist Area, named the Haoging River Tourist Area. The second is situated in the southwest of the Desert Water Park Tourist Area, at the foot of Yinken Sha, one of China’s eight major deserts – the Kubuqi Desert, and is called the Big Sand Forest Sightseeing Area. Within this scenic area lies a 3,000-mu high-efficiency forestry demonstration zone developed by the Inner Mongolia Forestry Department. The third zone is located in the northern part of the Shini Zhao Desert Water Park Scenic Area (west of the lower reaches of Haoging River), covering an area of 3,500 mu, and is named the Shini Zhao Desert Artificial Lake Tourist Scenic Area Sightseeing Zone.
