Köthen

Köthen is a city in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, located about 30 kilometers north of Halle. It serves as the capital of the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and is currently home to the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

Köthen has many churches, including St. Jacob’s Church dating back to 1400, St. Agnes Church from 1699, and St. Mary’s Church from 1830. The city is also known for its museums, such as the Naumann Museum of Ornithology, the Köthen Historical Museum, and the Museum of Prehistory, making it a great place to explore the city's history and prehistoric heritage. Köthen Castle, located in the city center, was first mentioned in 1396. The current castle structure has been in the city center since 1918 and is the most prominent landmark in the city. Other must-see sites include the Köthen Town Hall, the City Library, the Old German Court, the Old Cemetery, and Castle Park.
