The six-day First International Combined Ice Sculpture Competition at Harbin Ice and Snow World concluded successfully on January 3. The team from Khabarovsk, Russia, with their work “Romeo and Juliet,” won first prize; the Jewish Autonomous Oblast team of Russia with “Galaxy” and the Singapore team with “The Mantis Catches the Cicada” took second place; the Vietnamese team’s “Chinese Dragon,” HIT’s “Samsara,” and the Haicheng team’s “Charm of Winter” received third prizes.
It is understood that this international combined ice sculpture competition fills a domestic gap in the field of ice carving contests, representing a first-of-its-kind and innovative event in China. A total of twelve teams from nine countries participated, including Russia, Ukraine, France, South Korea, Singapore, and China. After the competition, the participating works continued to be displayed within Ice and Snow World, with many exquisite ice sculptures adding to the attraction of the site.
