Michael Jackson to Take the Stage in June as Cirque du Soleil Revives His Timeless Legacy

The “Michael Jackson Estate” will collaborate with “Cirque du Soleil” for a performance. The Taipei leg of Michael Jackson’s “Immortal World Tour” will take place at Taipei Arena from June 28 to June 30. This production will offer fans around the world a unique visual feast through Cirque du Soleil’s creative choreography, while also providing a glimpse into the beliefs and passion of the pop culture icon who transformed global music. Directed and choreographed by Jamie King, the show features 50 international dancers, musicians, and acrobats.

The creative team chose Neverland Ranch as the location for their first meeting. Director Jamie King recalled, “I remember going to ‘Neverland Ranch’ with the creative team, where we met staff who still believed in Michael; I also remembered how he wrote much of the music for the ‘Dangerous’ tour—which I had danced in—under the wishing tree. I truly believe this is the perfect place to create this show.” Set designer Mark Fisher explained that creating a rock show without the presence of the singer himself was incredibly challenging, because in such a case, the set must fill the void and evoke the singer’s presence. The “Immortal” tour features dynamic stages and high-tech, multi-tiered stage transitions. Large, multifunctional LED screens lie flat or stand upright, serving alternately as projection surfaces and ramps. At the center of the stage, giant drawers function as steps for performers.
