The preliminary list for the International Saxophone Competition has been announced, with a 12-year-old Taiwanese child advancing.

The semifinals and finals of the "2012 Taichung International Saxophone Competition" will be held starting October 17th in Houli District, Taichung City, known as the "hometown of the saxophone." The first prize of the competition is $30,000 USD (approximately NT$890,000), the highest among similar global competitions, attracting participants from 10 countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Among the 40 contestants who advanced to the semifinals, two of the youngest are a 9-year-old from mainland China and a 12-year-old from Taiwan.

A total of 90 musicians from 10 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, mainland China, and Taiwan, participated in the "2012 Taichung International Saxophone Competition." The 40 advancing contestants will compete in the semifinals and finals on October 17th and 19th at the concert hall on the fifth floor of Qiming School in Houli District, Taichung City. In addition to awarding prizes for the top three, the top five contestants will also receive a premium saxophone made in Houli District, Taichung. The general public can attend the competition free of charge without registration during the event.

In addition, besides the prediction contest available at the event venue, the "2012 Taichung International Saxophone Competition" Facebook fan page activity is also ongoing. Participants can enter the lucky draw by liking the Facebook fan page and leaving a comment. The individual with the most likes on their comment will also receive an additional hotel stay voucher.
