The Demerara River Floating Bridge is located not far from the mouth of the Demerara River. It was built with British aid, commenced construction in 1976, and was opened to traffic in July 1978. Spanning a total length of 1,851 meters with 61 spans, the bridge is grand and spectacular in appearance, attracting a large number of visitors. Sightseeing spots have been set up at both ends of the bridge for tourists to enjoy the views. The bridge’s curved design was also created by specialized designers and is believed to meet the aesthetic expectations of visitors. It is said to be the largest floating bridge in the world.
