Many people associate Taitung with its beautiful mountains and clear waters, but beyond its scenic landscapes, the region also boasts must-try street foods. The Taitung County Tourism Bureau recently invited netizens to vote for the top ten must-eat dishes in Taitung, attracting nearly 6,400 participants, with the final list recently announced.

2nd Place: Banyan Tree Rice Vermicelli (477 votes)
3rd Place: Beinan Buns (436 votes)
4th Place: Wang Qunxiang Slow Food Banquet (263 votes)
5th Place: Lin Family Stinky Tofu (210 votes)
6th Place: Chishang Rice (130 votes)
7th Place: Guest Come Eat Joy (96 votes)
8th Place: Baosang Turnip Cake (95 votes)
9th Place: (77 votes)
10th Place: Guyana Workshop (65 votes)

A total of over 100 food items were nominated in this poll, covering a wide range of specialty snacks, fast foods beloved by both locals and tourists, as well as indigenous cuisine experiences. Taking the top spot was Blue Dragonfly Fried Chicken — a go-to fried chicken joint for old-school Taitung residents before the arrival of McDonald’s and KFC, and still highly regarded by locals.

The voting results also crowned several dark horse favorites. Compared to a similar top ten Taitung foods list held three years ago, this year saw the rise of Wang Qunxiang Slow Food Banquet, Chishang Rice, Baosang Turnip Cake, (name unclear), and Guyana Workshop, all making strong showings. Locals commented that “the number of must-eats should be way more than ten!”
