Dadanawa Ranch, also known as Melville Ranch, is located near the Rupununi River and is the largest cattle ranch in Guyana, covering an area of 5,000 square kilometers—vast and seemingly endless. The best way to visit Dadanawa Ranch is by jeep, taking about 3.5 hours during the dry season, while in the rainy season it can take up to 3 days to get there.

Dadanawa Ranch is one of the most remote and isolated ranches, home to around 28,000 cattle. The ranch staff are locals or barefoot cowboys who are skilled in herding and feeding the cattle, as well as protecting them from threats such as jaguar attacks. The cattle here are wild animals and rarely see humans on the vast pastures, making them somewhat aggressive. The barefoot cowboys, whose families have been raising cattle here for four generations, have become friends—and even family—to the cows.

Dadanawa Ranch is also a great spot to watch the sunset. Across from the ranch is a mountain, and sitting on the grass as the sun slowly sets behind it offers a truly beautiful experience.
