Famous for its giant Buddha eyes, the area features small temples, stupas, and shops selling Buddhist goods, some with a Tibetan style. Boudhanath is located east of Kathmandu and north of the airport, about 6 kilometers from Thamel. One of the largest stupas in the world, Boudhanath Stupa, stands here. Boudhanath serves as a religious center for the Tibetan community in Nepal, where you’ll find monks in maroon robes, gleaming monastery rooftops, and shops filled with Tibetan books and butter. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can experience Tibetan culture up close.
