AirAsia X, the long-haul subsidiary of AirAsia, is adding a new route again. Starting now, tickets for direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu are available online. The promotional launch fare starts at just NT$3,990 per person one-way including taxes and fees, with travel dates from September 1, 2012 to May 22, 2013.

The new route will begin operations on July 3, 2012. Originally, tickets were only sold through specific travel agencies in Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu. However, due to strong demand and positive feedback from travelers, the airline has decided to open online bookings via its official website, allowing more passengers to purchase tickets directly online. Flights will operate every Tuesday and Thursday, departing Kuala Lumpur at 11:45 AM and arriving in Kathmandu, then returning from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur. The collaboration between AirAsia X and AirAsia expands their service network. Additionally, when transiting in Kuala Lumpur, passengers can proceed directly to the departure gate without going through immigration procedures, and their luggage will be checked through to the final destination. AirAsia X continues to add new destinations and plans to launch flights from Taipei to Haneda by the end of the year. By February next year, there will be two daily flights from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, AirAsia X is also the first low-cost long-haul airline to introduce fully lie-flat Premium Seats. These seats follow standard business class specifications and feature 77-inch fully flat reclining seats that extend forward. The seats come equipped with universal power outlets, adjustable headrests, and built-in personal amenities such as a fold-down tray table, drink holder, reading light, and personal TV screen. Passengers who choose Premium Seats can also enjoy free seat selection, checked baggage allowance (20 kg), as well as complimentary in-flight meals and personal pillow and blanket services.
