China and Nepal are committed to building a three-dimensional trans-Himalayan connectivity network under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. On October 29, a promotional event for Hunan’s first direct flight to South Asia was held by the Provincial Airport Management Group. The regular route from Changsha to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, will officially open on November 20.
The Changsha–Kathmandu regular route will be operated by Himalaya Airlines, with flights every Wednesday, and a one-way flight time of approximately four hours. Established in 2014 through the restructuring of Tibet Civil Aviation Investment Development Co., Ltd. and Yeti Global Investment Pvt. Ltd. of Nepal, Himalaya Airlines is headquartered in Kathmandu and represents Nepal’s largest foreign direct investment project in the civil aviation sector.
With the launch of the direct Changsha–Kathmandu route, an aerial express line from Hunan and even central China directly to Nepal will be established. This will reduce what used to be an eight-hour-plus journey requiring connections through Guangzhou, Chengdu, Lhasa, or even Thailand, down to just four hours. It will greatly facilitate friendly exchanges between the people of China and Nepal.
But what allure does mysterious Nepal hold?
Nepal is dotted with temples and magnificent shrines—“a small temple every three steps, a large one every five.” Temples rich in religious character are a major tourism highlight of Nepal.
When visiting the capital, Kathmandu, one must go to Durbar Square. Durbar Square is a complex of royal palaces built during Nepal’s medieval period of three kings vying for dominance, each constructing grand structures to showcase their power, forming the most concentrated and ornate collection of ancient architecture in Nepal.
