Nha Trang is a coastal city in central Vietnam and the capital of Khanh Hoa Province in southern Vietnam. It is a renowned seaside tourist destination and port city. Nha Trang lies on the OpenTour route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, making it very convenient for travelers to get to.

To the east of Nha Trang City stretches a silvery-white beach over 7 kilometers long, shaped like a crescent moon embracing the blue sea. With its white sands, soft shores, clear waters, and calm tides, it is a rare natural seaside bathing spot.

Nha Trang enjoys a pleasant climate, with an average temperature of 24°C in January and no higher than 28°C even during the peak summer month of August. The sea breeze here is also unique, as it is rich in bromine and iodine, which help promote blood circulation. As a result, Nha Trang Beach attracts many visitors year-round, even in winter. The beach features pavilions, hotels for tourists to rest, and cold drink shops. Visitors can enjoy freshly caught, delicious seafood right on the beach.

The waters near Nha Trang are one of Vietnam’s famous fishing grounds, with favorable weather for offshore fishing on over 250 days each year. The renowned Vietnam Institute of Oceanography is also located in Nha Trang, where specimens of over 60,000 marine species are preserved. On Chí Viên Island, about 1 kilometer from Nha Trang Port, Chí Viên Lake is home to more than 200 rare fish species from the Nha Trang sea area. There are also many small islands off the coast of Nha Trang. These islands are not far from the shore and exude a strong rural charm, making them very popular with tourists. A must-do in Nha Trang is the Four Islands Tour. The four islands include Yen Island (famous for bird’s nest), Hom Mun, Hon Tom, and Mien Island. The appeal isn’t just the scenery, but the hilarious antics and diverse entertainment organized by the boat captains, giving the impression of a water carnival that draws everyone into the fun. The price is $8 per person.

To the north of Nha Trang lies a mountain called Núi Chúa. From the summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nha Trang with beautiful scenery. On Núi Chúa, there are four temples that resemble pagodas in appearance. It is said that between the 7th and 12th centuries, there were eight temples here. The largest temple enshrined the Goddess Thien Y A Na, hence this complex is known as the Temple of the Goddess of the Sea. Beside the statues, there are several Chinese stone steles from the Ming Dynasty, inscribed with the history of the temples. Interestingly, all four of these pagoda-like temples face east.

Cửa Dứa is a fishing village in Nha Trang where various shells and corals are processed and sold at low prices, making great souvenirs. It is also a great place to sample seafood, particularly known for its lobsters. Near Cửa Dứa, you can often see locals using large bamboo baskets called “thùng cá” as water transportation.
