Rising 515 meters above Kuala Lumpur, the KL Tower boasts a tower shaft that stands an impressive 421 meters high—a stunning landmark and a symbol of the city. Perched on the summit of Bukit Nanas (Pineapple Hill), which has an elevation of 94 meters, the KL Tower is situated at a higher elevation than the Petronas Twin Towers. Originally constructed as a telecommunications tower, its primary purpose was to enhance the quality of wireless communication and the clarity of broadcast transmissions. The KL Tower represents a milestone in the telecommunications industry.

The KL Tower is the tallest concrete tower in the world, standing 421 meters high and using 45,000 cubic meters of concrete. Its surface features vertical ribbed fins, and the structure weighs 100,000 metric tons. Rather than relying on piles, the tower's foundation rests directly on a freestanding parcel of land. It is considered the tallest tower in South Asia and ranks as the fourth tallest telecommunication tower globally. The construction took four years and was completed in April 1996. Designed to withstand winds of up to 90 miles per hour, it is also a member of the World Federation of Great Towers.
