Situated in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang, this once-dilapidated back alley has been dramatically revitalized into a new photo destination. Many visitors stroll through back alleys or shortcuts, wandering around the Golden Triangle area. The revamped Bukit Bintang alleyways not only enhance the cityscape and breathe life into neglected urban spaces, but also bring endless surprises, joy, and a sense of safety to both domestic and international tourists as well as local residents.

Bright murals and vibrant paint colors have added flair to some of the old buildings in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang. What were once back alleys filled with trash, thieves, and drug users have been given new life, infused with warmth, and completely renewed.

Featuring streams, birds, butterflies, owls, plants, and rainbows. One of the side lanes has been painted to resemble a winding stream with a 3D effect, making pedestrians feel as though they are walking along an actual waterway. The walls of old buildings have been coated with vivid, colorful paints, incorporating flora and fauna by local Kuala Lumpur street artists—offering a touch of green in this bustling metropolis.

In addition, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall sees the potential economic benefits of these alleys and is developing them into tourism products by collaborating with stakeholders along each corridor, transforming them into vibrant attractions in Kuala Lumpur.”

The Bukit Bintang project in Kuala Lumpur is being carried out in two phases. The first phase includes repainting old buildings with colorful murals, repaving and repairing sidewalks, upgrading drainage systems, and relocating lamp posts and cables along Jalan Alor, covering approximately 3 kilometers. Reports say the Kuala Lumpur City Hall and private businesses jointly invested 1.5 million Malaysian Ringgit in this beautification project.
