The Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum is located in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, on Malaysia’s oldest airbase—KL Air Base, which was handed over to the Royal Malaysian Air Force in 1960. This area was initially the old Sungei Besi Airport, jointly operated by the Malaysian military and civil aviation, and was once Malaysia’s first international airport.

Established in 1985, the Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum started off very modestly, with just one hangar and five aircraft. Since then, the number of exhibits has steadily increased, almost filling all available space in the museum. Today, the museum has six galleries dedicated to collecting and displaying various items related to the history and development of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, including photographs, artifacts, aircraft models, uniforms, medals, military and ordnance equipment, as well as communication devices. One smaller gallery houses drawings, aircraft models, and uniforms, while larger outdoor exhibits include items such as jeeps, recorders, and firefighting equipment. The museum also displays 17 aircraft and helicopters, vividly illustrating the evolution of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. A visit here evokes nostalgia for veterans of past wars and inspires patriotism among the younger generation.
