Thailand’s largest zoo, home to a wide variety of rare birds and animals. Introduction

Khaolarin Zoo is Thailand’s largest zoo and the only one in Bangkok. Originally built as a royal garden by King Rama V of the Bangkok Dynasty. The garden is filled with lush flowers and trees, offering a serene and beautiful environment, known as “Suan Khaolarin Royal Garden.” Because it is located within the Dusit Palace Gardens, it is also called Dusit Zoo. After King Rama VI came to power, the garden was opened to the public. During the reign of King Rama VII, the sika deer from “Suan An Pun Royal Garden” (also known as the “Deer Park”) and “Suan Jit Royal Garden” were relocated here for domestication. Later, various regions successively donated rare birds and animals to the zoo, making it Thailand’s largest zoo. The white elephants here are particularly eye-catching, as they bow to visitors and beg for food; the gibbons are also quite amusing, often fixating on ice pops held by children. The zoo features ponds and small canals lined with betel nut trees, providing a cool and tranquil atmosphere. There is also a small amusement park for children, and various colorful boats leisurely float on the lake, making it a great place for rest and recreation.
