The Bangkok Marathon Along the Grand Palace and Chao Phraya River Kicks Off on November 18

Participating in a marathon allows runners to visit famous landmarks in the host city, which not only excites the participants but also energizes the spectators. The route of the Bangkok Marathon, scheduled to take place on November 18 along Sanam Chai Road (next to the Grand Palace), will lead runners past many of Bangkok’s captivating sights, including the Grand Palace and the Chao Phraya River. The race is divided into four main categories based on different age groups: the full marathon (42.185 km), half marathon (21.10 km), mini marathon (10.55 km), and a super short marathon (5 km).

The race route not only passes by numerous historic sites but also winds through neighborhoods rich in local character. Along the way, participants can enjoy views of the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), the National Museum, and the Chao Phraya River. The starting and finishing lines for all race categories are located on Sanam Chai Road in front of the Grand Palace, allowing runners to take in Bangkok’s renowned sights while also feeling the vibrant culture of Thailand through the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.

In addition, visitors to Bangkok shouldn’t miss Rattanakosin Island, the city’s oldest district, established in 1782. The area is home to many must-visit attractions, including the Old Parliament House, Wat Saket (Golden Mount Temple), Wat Ratchanatdaram, the Democracy Monument, the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine, the Grand Palace, Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), the National Theatre, and Sanam Luang Park. These magnificent buildings and sights become even more enchanting at night, offering a Bangkok nightlife experience distinct from the daytime. To this end, a local tour titled “Riding a Sightseeing Tram Through Bangkok’s Elegant Ancient City” has been launched.
