Micro-movie promotional tourism film "Oyster Boy Isn't Hard" begins filming in Tainan oyster fields

The micro-movie "Oyster Boy Isn't Hard," commissioned by Tainan City Tourism Bureau and produced by Light Path Films, held its production launch ceremony yesterday (30th) in the Qigu oyster fields. The film is adapted from the real-life story of Tainan youth "Oyster Boy" Huang Yicheng, directed by renowned director and Golden Horse Award-winning actor Chen Wenbin, and stars Wang Boxuan (as Oyster Boy), Lee Siang-lin (as Oyster Boy’s girlfriend Xiaohan), and Tsai Minghsiu (as Oyster Boy’s father). Filming takes place on-site at West Coast attractions including the Qigu oyster fields, Qigu Salt Mountain, Black-faced Spoonbill Conservation Center, Jingzihjiao Tile-Pond Salt Fields, Beimen Blackfoot Disease Memorial Hall, Luermen Our Lady of Snows Temple, Wusheng Night Market, and National Cheng Kung University.

The film tells the story of Oyster Boy, who faces a life decision and resolutely returns to Qigu to farm oysters. Amid various pressures, he overcomes numerous challenges and proves everything through action. Every morning, Oyster Boy puts on rain boots and a canvas outfit, steps into the oyster fields, and learns oyster farming and harvesting step by step from his grandfather; he even develops new sales channels, selling fresh roasted oysters directly from the source at the night market. The story showcases the creativity and perseverance of the people of Tainan.

In recent years, people have enjoyed sharing interesting videos on social media platforms. Micro-movies have become one of Tainan’s newest marketing methods. Unlike traditional reliance on television broadcasts, these films can spread quickly and widely online. This film is expected to be publicly released by the end of the year, coinciding with the black-faced spoonbill bird-watching season (from October each year to April of the following year). Additionally, Tainan City also plans to release a second micro-movie titled "Happiness Office," which depicts stories of dreams coming true in the Fucheng area, with filming scheduled to begin in early November.
